Hatfield Motor Group was honoured to sponsor a stand at the Disability Summit held at the Nasrec Expo Centre on May 16th and 17th. The event, which drew 1,200 attendees over two days, featured participation from over six universities and 25 schools dedicated to learners with various disabilities.
The Summit showcased 34 corporate exhibitors and attracted significant media coverage as well as the presence of government representatives and ministers. Hatfield Motor Group highlighted a VW Caddy, showcasing modifications for wheelchair accessibility. Collaborating with companies specialising in vehicle modifications, Hatfield Motor Group provided attendees with valuable insights into mobility solutions for disabled individuals.
A key feature of the Summit was the Career Expo held on Thursday, which saw participation from Hatfield's HR consultants. This expo provided a crucial platform for disadvantaged students with diverse disabilities and medical conditions to network with corporate representatives, and explore career opportunities that might otherwise be limited. It also offered Hatfield Motor Group a chance to engage with the community of disabled professionals, gain exposure to innovative development programs, and observe inclusion initiatives implemented by other corporations. The insights gained will be instrumental in advancing Hatfield's own Disability Programme.
The Summit was vibrant, featuring entertainment, guest speakers, dance competitions, and meet-and-greet sessions. The enthusiasm and friendliness of the students were palpable, their zest for life inspiring, and their resilience truly commendable. A memorable quote from the event encapsulated the spirit of the Summit: “The only disability in life is a bad attitude.”
