Chery South Africa is set to take over Nissan’s Rosslyn manufacturing plant in Pretoria, including the land, buildings, and facilities. The deal is expected to be finalised by mid-2026, pending regulatory approval. While Nissan will exit local manufacturing, it will continue operating in South Africa as an import and distribution brand, with most employees expected to transition to Chery SA.
The move marks the end of nearly 60 years of Nissan production at Rosslyn and highlights the growing presence of Chinese manufacturers in South Africa. For Chery, it reinforces a long-term commitment to local production while keeping a historic plant active and contributing to economic continuity.
